Curso en Arabia Saudita.

The Saudi Orthodontic Society had the courtesy to invite Dr Leandro Fernandez to give a lecture about the SmartClip bracket of 3M Unitek during its 6th Annual Conference.

The meeting took place in the city of Jeddah from the 31st of January until the 2nd of February at the Hotel Hyath of this city washed by the Red Sea and only 50 Km away from Mecca.

Dr Leandro Fernandez, together with other five international famous speakers, took part in this conference which had more than 200 participants. His topic was about: “Sliding and Deciding: Self-ligating bracket mechanics in extraction and non-extraction cases.”

“Very often, when they talk about the self-ligating bracket system they exclusively refer to the orthodontic treatment without extractions. Self-ligation can be used in extraction and non-extraction cases (it is actually used in both cases); but there are important factors to consider as a result of the reduction of the friction offered by the braces. The goal of this analysis in two parts is to revise several clinical cases treated with different focuses (children, adults, extraction and non-extraction…), which prove the focuses and specific mechanisms for this type of appliance”
